The Duck Race 2009
Thousands of pounds are raised each year by the Duck Race to benefit local Charities, Groups and Organisations. Tickets are sold in advance corresponding to numbered yellow plastic ducks. We invite Charities, Groups and Organisations to join us in selling tickets for the race and they retain all monies raised from selling tickets for their own cause. This year, as the Rotary Club had a surplus from the sponsorship monies over the costs of staging the event, we donated approximately 10% extra to the totals sold by the Charities, Groups, Organisations etc.
The race is run on the second Sunday in June on Bradshaw Brook, Bradshaw adjacent to Bradshaw Cricket Club and is a sight to behold as thousands of ducks battle it out over nine race heats cheered on by a crowd that seems to get bigger each year! The first four ducks from each heat do it all again in the Grand Final.
For the 2009 race, Renault/Nissan Dealership, Bolton was our Main Sponsor which together with our other 23 mainly local business Sponsors ensured that all costs of the event were covered. We thank all our Sponsors for their generous sponsorship of this event.
