On Saturday 27th February, 104 people attended a Race Night held at The Last Drop Hotel on 27th February for the Rotary ‘Thanks for Life-End Polio Now’ campaign, with £1046 being raise from the event.
The track was firm to good making for some fast racing despite all the female jockeys being amateurs!
Thanks go to Clerk to the Course Ken Barlow, Race Steward and Starter Bill Fairclough and Tote Controller George Aldridge for ensuring that the meeting was both financially and socially very succesful.
This was a very enjoyable evening for a worthy cause. Also thanks to Jim Turner for the photographs.

On the 22nd February, President Mike together with Rotarians Billy, Mark, Jim and Colin visited the neighbouring Radcliffe club. This is a dining club and as there was no speaker after the meal, President Mike was invited to speak on the fundraising and social activities of our Club before handing over to Billy Fairclough to entertain all present with tales of his career as a Master of Ceremonies at fundraising events over many years.
It was a very enjoyable evening enabling members of both Clubs to get to know more about our respective Clubs.
